Our Residents and Fellows. The future of Pathology.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine plays a vital role in every patient's healthcare journey. Behind each diagnosis is a team of dedicated pathologists, residents, and fellows working to deliver answers that guide treatment, improve outcomes, and save lives throughout our community.

Healthcare begins with an accurate diagnosis. Before treatment can start, someone must identify the disease, determine its characteristics, and provide the information that guides clinical decision-making. That is the work of pathology. In fact, laboratory and pathology results influence an estimated 60–70% of major medical decisions, making pathologists essential members of the healthcare team. Their expertise impacts countless lives, often without patients ever realizing who helped chart the course of their care.

Today, our faculty are passing that expertise to the next generation. Through the training of residents and fellows, they are cultivating future pathologists who will master increasingly complex diagnoses, advance medical science, and serve patients for decades to come.

The University of Arizona Department of Pathology has chosen to focus its philanthropic efforts on our greatest investment—the education and training of residents and fellows. These future pathologists will become the physicians behind countless diagnoses, helping guide treatment decisions, improve patient outcomes, and advance the practice of medicine.

Your gift helps us develop the next generation of diagnostic experts whose work will impact patients, families, and communities for decades to come.

"Make your gift today and help us train the pathologists of tomorrow, advance life-saving discoveries, and improve healthcare for patients across our community."
